6 reasons why you can't get over a breakup

I'd like to think that the three most painful things on Earth are third degree burns, childbirth, and breakups. Breakups are devastating to every sphere of our lives: the emotional, physical, social, and mental. It has a way of reducing us to our weakest, and making us relive the painful feelings of regrets over and over again. Everyday, you walk down that same street you both used to walk; you listen to sad songs and keep wondering about what was and what should have been. Still, you end up wondering why you just  can't forget who it was that broke your heart. This post would help you discover what it is that you're still doing wrong. 1. You're stalking him or her on social media: Don't worry about what he's doing, worry about why you're worrying about what he's doing.  So, maybe you unfollowed him on all the social media platforms you both shared, right after the breakup. Or maybe, you took it as far as blocking him. Still, you know deep...

Letter To My Unborn Son

My dear,                  I can only project for so long into the future's gateway, and so I'll try to make the most of this little time I have with you. Today, I'll tell you words my father never told me, and one you shouldn't tell your son if you deem it fit. Be everything you can be, son -- everything but me. Let my path only motivate you whilst you thread yours. Don't waste your time trying to start from where I left off; rather, start from the scratch and let your own experience, failures, mistakes, and successes shape you into someone not me. We are two unlike beings, no matter how much we may look alike.    You see, son, I only see when I close my eyes. For I believe that the greatest ideas are born in the most silent of nights, the darkest of times, and the moment our fears are at its zenith. And so, I've taught my eyes to grasp every treasure the dark holds. Yet again, this is only my belief. You have it in you to believ...

Setting Your Priorities, Emotionally

One minute silence.... Let's sit back and remember the days you spent moping about an unfruitful relationship; the moments you cried for its failure, and smiled at the thought of it succeeding... If this hasn't happened to you, then.... One minute silence... Sit back and gauge yourself for yours that's coming, if not now but sometime in the future. See also:  Dealing with depression. . No one is worth dying over, not even you yourself! The reason you only pass through bad relationships or never have relationships is so you can recognize the right one when such comes, at the right time. . Focus on what deserves your attention now, and act accordingly to your priorities with a smart sense of attitude. Early relationships are like twitter trends, they hardly stick around for a week and when they do, you'd have lost your taste in them already. Only it's not your data that'll burn this time, but your emotional being as a whole. . It's a minute now!...

The Best Things in Life Are Free!

I got a message from a special someone yesterday. It read, 'the best things in life are free!', then I just smiled. (The kind of smile you smile when you finally realize that what you've been tearing the house down, scouring for, was right in your hands!) Only, this time, I wasn't searching for anything.... It came searching for me!  Enough with the parables.  . The best things in life are what money can't buy; what money could never qualify to rent; what everyone is born with; and, what one can always have if one chooses to (positive thinking!). The best things in life are privileges. Simply put, the best things in life aren't actually things! They are traits, and resources like love, dignity, family, time, resilience and several many others!  . Money can't get you love, it can only get you what looks like it, and make you believe it's the real deal. And so, focus on the things that are greater than money in measure. The things that everyon...

Sarah's Song

Sarah walked briskly, away from the coffee shop and deep into the cold; half scared of the dark and all it beholds and yet half confident that it wasn't her a gang of teenage boys were calling. She stopped at the bus stop, sticking out her right arm, and making gestures at an oncoming cab. She realized in shock that her hands trembled. She stole a glance at the sky. No, not even an inkling of a star smiled at her. Her gaze fell back to the road. Sarah gasped! There wasn't any vehicle on the road. The cab must have passed her whilst she stood admiring the sky. Now, the cab was nowhere in sight, but the boys were. Scared, for a reason she couldn't even think of, she didn't know when she began to run.  Why am I running?,  She thought... No, there would be enough time for thinking. Later She then heard heavy footsteps following hers. Or maybe it was her heartbeat. And so, she placed a palm on her chest gently. No, it wasn't from there! It was from the ones now ech...

What Positive Thinking Can Do For, and To You!

A line in one of Shakira's hit, Gazelle, did it for me this morning! "I won't give up, I won't give in, till I reach the end then I'll start again...... " . Crazy huh? She says here that after all the struggle and pangs of suffering, regret and setbacks she would be met with, the second she reaches her finishing line, she'll go back to start all over again! . No it's not crazy! That's confidence, motivation, positivity, optimism or whatever synonym you might choose to adopt.... The fact remains that it's whatever you attribute to your mind that it'll work towards. . Call me talkative, call me disturbing or maybe ancient... All because of my emphasis on positive thinking. . Dear, the world we live in today boasts of negativity in the highest order! And so, the little positivity we might exhibit today might do as little as make it neutral or as much as make it positive. . Imagine a world where pessimism, and suffering is nothing mo...

Be YOU!

Good morning, Shards! Your daily delivery of inspiration is here! Hold on a second! Who says that?...  Oh, it's the pizza 🍕 delivery guy. Oh well, let's try another one. . I'm pleased to announce the birth of a comforting motivational dish! Who again?! Huh... Huh! Yeah, it's just the Doctor. . My hypothesis is that this dish would fill the loopholes in the mechanics of the human mind. Now who's that?.... Sure, some wacky engineer! . My point?... There's a billion of a trillion ways we can all express a single thing... That's how unique the word uniqueness can be! . Learn not to imitate the life of others! Find your own angle and be yourself always! Life can be beautiful when you do! . Softly flakes of my whispers then echoed in their hearts..... Yeah that's right!... I'm a writer, and I love being ME !

Mask Off!

To an extent, we all wear masks.  (Feinting anger just to attract sympathy; pretending to love a dish just to earn the admiration of your partner; imitating the lifestyle of those around you just to feel 'among'). All these are masks which often blind us from seeing the real picture of life and the harm in putting them (the masks) on.  While throwing a fit just to attract sympathy or empathy from one's parents or friends might be tagged ' childish ', this isn't the case when it is -or develops into - a habit. You see, people watch your every move; whatever curve or fold your face takes; whatever decision you make; and, whatever remark you make about anything. Some have taken it upon themselves as the first item on their priority list. Now the question is: "how do people look at you?" What comes first to the minds of those lurking in a corner, watching you, whenever you come into their range of thought? Masks are worms eating deep into trust,...

A place where no one wants to be

Depression can be a dangerous acquaintance to have when one is lonely or is grieving over one's losses, like the loss of a loved one. Just like every burglar, it always strives to avoid attracting the attention of those close to us, and to achieve this, it often eats deep into our minds where it then lodges in a way that we never even know what terror we have right in our backyard! . Due to the overwhelming demands of life, we often are so oblivious of our surroundings that we fail to notice the very people around us. Life doesn't give more than we can handle, and so, worrying about a problem will never attract the matching solution, not will bottling up that problem. Rather, I'll feast on the little sense of optimism you have; then, it'll continue gradually on the outside before progressing deep into your mind where it's accomplice now resides. Sometimes, it helps to talk to someone. Open up! Speak out! Maybe even cry and let all your emotions flow. That way, you...

A lot in 60 seconds

The wooden ruler was created in 7 days.. The Earth was created in 6 days... The can opener was created in 5 days... The door knob was created in 4 days... The eraser was developed in 3 days... The famous sweetener, saccharin was perfected in 2 days... . What are we getting at? . The whole idea for this inventions was bagged in just a day! Dedicate your time only to what deserves it and you'll be surprised at how much your mind has to offer! . Invention is quite great; innovation is genius (or by accident). Make the leap, and you'll reap your reward!
